It is with a heavy heart that we regret to inform the membership of the passing of friend and long standing AVPOI Vice President David “Ibe” Smith. After a 2-week battle with illness, Ibe passed away on Monday morning the 20th of Sept. surrounded by family and his loving wife Precious. The family has made arrangements for the community to join in the celebration of Ibe’s life. Visiting hours will take place at the Chapman Funeral Home, 475 Main St Falmouth, on Monday, Sept 27th from 10-12. A service will then be held in place at 12pm. After, Ibe will be escorted to the Oak Grove Cemetery on Jones Rd in Falmouth where he will take his final rest.
The Smith’s will then be hosting friends and family at the Flying Bridge Rest. in Falmouth following the day’s activities. They ask that you join them in sharing stories and memories of a neighbor and friend that gave so much to his community and never asked for anything in return.
The family also asks that you respect their privacy in the coming days so they may mourn in private. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or messages for the family. An official obituary will release Friday.
